SPOTLIGHT ATHLETE: Lynda Ruiz-Orta

Lynda Ruiz-Orta has been a long standing member of the CFR community and we’d love to recognize her this month as the spotlight athlete! Lynda is one of the most kind-hearted people we have ever met and we absolutely love her friendly vibes she brings to class. She is also one of CFR’s first pregnant athletes and we’ve been blown away by her determination and drive to still stay active during her pregnancy. Lynda is one strong momma and we are extremely proud to have her as a friend and member at CrossFit Rolesville.

Proudest accomplishment at CrossFit Rolesville?

Definitely accomplishing my first box jump.

How did you find CFR? Why do you train?

I live right around the corner, saw the signs before CFR opened. I train to stay healthy for me and my family. And to be a good example for my kids to see, eating healthy and working out is important. Something I want them to strive for as they grow up.

What is your favorite moment so far at CFR?

Ladies night WOD and Wine! Love those!

What is your daily motivation to workout?

Working out gives me the energy I need for the day. I may feel tired right after the workout but I feel so alive at the same time. It gets me motivated to get stuff done.

Favorite and least favorite movements?

My least favorite has to be missing the medball and getting smacked in the face doing wall balls. Lol.

What’s one thing you would tell to a new CrossFitter?

Once you use those 7 free days to try it out, you will be hooked!

One song that gets you amped up during a WOD?

Definitely “Headstrong” by Trapt! I tend to kick up the pace when I hear that song. Love it!

Tell us something about yourself that we don’t already know.

I was a dancer most of my life and then a hairstylist. Art has always been my thing. Crossfit has definitely become an art to me. I feel accomplished when I get something done right and I beat my personal record. And being pregnant now, WOW! I have felt so great! Best pregnancy yet!!! Definitely would recommend to continue crossfit for any woman who gets pregnant!
